Kumkum Bhagya actress Sriti Jha opens up on how she deals with TV being called ‘regressive’

TV actress Sriti Jha, who became a household figure with her work in shows like Balika Vadhu and Kumkum Bhagya, ruled the roost in TV industry for many years as she continued to play strong characters. During a recent media interaction, the actress addressed the subject of constant allegations slapped upon TV show makers for making ‘regressive content.’

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, The Kumkum Bhagya actress candidly confessed that she does not feel offended about it anymore. While adding that these remarks about TV industry might have hurt her when she was younger, but she knows better age at present. Jha added, “people who call all the TV shows regressive, are not the people who are watching all the TV shows. I also understand that you cannot force someone to choose their kind of entertainment. You don’t relate to it, you don’t watch it.”

Jha also acknowledged the reality of current times driven by social media where TV shows mostly reach to people through memes, adding, “From that the picture that they get is only regression and it’s okay.”

The Kumkum Bhagya actress also stated that she doesn’t expect validation from someone who is not choosing to watch their TV shows, adding that their work is celebrated enough by others and that ‘there is a room full of people who want to know more about the show. So that love and validation supersede other things.’

During the interaction, Sriti Jha also went down the memory lane a bit, recalling that Kumkum Bhagya was the first show for which she did not have to audition, but was offered instead. Jha further reminisced, “Before Kumkum Bhagya, everything I auditioned and tested for - and whatever was the first job offer I got through was the show I ended up doing.”

Sriti Jha is currently working in the TV show Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye.
