Smriti Irani To Make TV Comeback After 15 Years With Rupali Ganguly's Show Anupamaa: Reports

Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, is all set to take a 15-year leap in its storyline, leading to the departure of the old cast, including Sudhanshu Pandey, Madalsa Sharma, Gaurav Sharma, Nidhi Shah and Kunwar Amar. As the show is set to go on air soon, reports are doing the rounds that actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani is set to join the cast.

Is Smriti Irani to return to TV after 15 years?

Anupamaa has been enjoying a huge fan base since the show went on-air in 2020. Since then, the show has been topping the TRP charts. Now to add more drama to the show, the makers decided to show a generational leap. With the new cast entering the show, reports have been rife that Smriti Irani , well-known for her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, will reportedly make a cameo appearance, per Tellychakkar.

If this report turns out to be true then, Smriti Irani will be making her comeback to the small screen world after 15 years.

Smriti Irani 's last appearance on small screen

She was last seen in the horror thriller show, Ek Thhi Naayka (2013). Each episode features a new female protagonist who fights against witches and demonic entities, signifying the triumph of good over evil. The series was produced by Ekta Kapoor, the joint managing director of Balaji Telefilms, to promote her then-upcoming film, Ek Thi Daayan, starring Emraan Hashmi.

What do we know about Anupamaa's generational leap?

Apart from Rupali, the show will feature Alisha Parveen and  Shivam Khajuria in the lead roles. Rupali's show Anupamaa is based on the Bengali series Sreemoyee. Produced by Rajan Shahi and Deepa Shahi under the banner of Director's Kut Productions, it airs on Star Plus.
