Nani and Mrunal Thakur‘s romantic drama film titled Hi Nanna received positive reviews following its theatrical release on December 7. Directed by Shouryuv, the film has made a great start at the box office. As per Sacnilk, Hi Nanna earned ₹6.10 crore on the first day of its release.
Hi Nanna opens to a great start at the box office
On its opening day, Hi Nanna captured the audience's attention, witnessing a 43.75 percent Telugu occupancy. Evening and night shows were particularly well-received, contributing significantly to the film's successful debut. Hyderabad and Bangalore recorded solid occupancy rates of 50 percent each, showcasing the film's appeal across key regions. Even amid the impact of Cyclone Michaung in parts of Tamil Nadu, the state still registered a notable occupancy of 47.75 percent, indicating the film's widespread draw, as per Sacnilk.
Originally slated for a December 21 worldwide theatrical release, the makers changed the release date to December 7, strategically avoiding a clash with Prabhas' much-anticipated action thriller, Salaar, helmed by Prastanth Neel. This decision has seemingly paid off, granting Hi Nanna a clear path at the box office, capitalising on a lack of other major Telugu releases this week and likely extending its dominance into the following week.
Hi Nanna to stream on Netflix?
According to media reports, the digital rights of Hi Nanna have been sold for ₹37 crore. This will likely surpasses all previous records for a Nani movie and covers over 50% of the total budget. Even though the OTT platform on which the movie will be streamed has not yet been confirmed, speculations are rife it has gone to Netflix. It is anticipated that Nani's film will debut on OTT during the third week of January 2024. Hi Nanna follows Viraj, a single father, and Mahi, his daughter. When the girl Nani's character is in love with, Yashna (Mrunal), decides to marry someone else, the lives of the father and daughter drastically change.
