Is Prabhas starrer Salaar a remake of Ugramm? Producer finally clears the air

On social media, time and again, there have been speculations about Salaar being a remake of Ugramm (2014), starring Sriimurali.

Salaar is all set to hit the big screens on December 22 worldwide. The Prabhas starrer has already created a strong buzz in the US, with premiere shows already raking in upwards of 600K and counting. The action movie has been granted A certificate by the censor board and has reportedly locked a runtime of nearly three hours. Despite all the buzz surrounding the film, Salaar has been in the news for reportedly being a remake of director Prashanth Neel's debut film Ugramm.

Producer clarifies on rumours of Salaar being a remake

On social media, time and again, there have been speculations about Salaar being a remake of Ugramm (2014), starring Sriimurali. Director Prashanth Neel also mentioned in one of his interviews that he would like to make Ugramm again with a big star. As such statements went viral on social media, speculation rose that Salaar is a remake of Ugramm.

Now, the producer of the film, Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, has confirmed that the rumours are not true. According to 123 Telugu, Vijay dispelled any connection between the two projects and emphasised Prashanth Neel’s ability to craft unique narratives.

Salaar trailer hints at friendship, not rivalry

The trailer of the upcoming Prabhas-starrer Kannada origin pan-India film Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire was unveiled recently. The 3 minute 46 seconds long trailer started with a flashback sequence of two childhood friends, one of whom will come to save the other at any cost irrespective of wherever he is in the world. The two characters are essayed by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Earlier, there were speculations that the two actors will come face-to-face in the action-packed film.

Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire also stars Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu. The film produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, will be released in theatres alongside Dunki.
