Big Highlight/ Oscars welcomes RRR star Jr NTR to the Academy’s Actors Branch

On Wednesday night, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the list of new members of the class, which includes Jr NTR. It comes months after the actor's film RRR bagged an Oscar for Best Original Song Naatu Naatu at this year’s ceremony. The list also actors such as Ke Huy Quan, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Kerry Condon and Rosa Salazar.

Taking to its official Instagram handle, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences shared the names and wrote in a note alongside it, “In the capable hands of these dedicated and gifted performers, stories transcend the confines of imagination, taking on a tangible, visceral existence that captivates viewers around the world.” The nite further read, “Through their nuanced expressions, compelling gestures, and authentic portrayals, they bridge the gap between fiction and reality, allowing us to see ourselves in the struggles, joys, and triumphs of the characters they bring to life."
 

Jr NTR filmography

Jr NTR became a global star after featuring in SS Rajamouli's RRR alongside Ram Charan. The film ruled the international awards and how. It bagged many international awards, including two Golden Globes for Best Song and Best Non-English Language Film and four Hollywood Critics Association Awards, including one for the Oscar-winning Naatu Naatu. 

About RRR

The period-action drama revolved around the fictional versions of two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju ( played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr NTR), their friendship and their fight against the British Raj. Apart from NTR and Charan, the film also starred Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris in pivotal roles.
