Following his recent hat-trick against Bolivia, Messi has now scored a hat-trick in 16 consecutive calendar years, surpassing Ronaldo's achievement, who has done so every year since 2010.
Notably, both players have achieved a career-best of nine hat-tricks in a single calendar year, with Ronaldo achieving this in 2011 and Messi achieving it a year later.
