A goods train derailed in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district on Wednesday, affecting traffic movement on Daund-Manmad rail route, officials said. Around 18 long distance trains have been diverted to other routes, while some have also been cancelled, they said. Seven wagons of the goods train, which was on its way to Ahmednagar from Malkhaid Road (in Karnataka) derailed between Shrigonda Road and Belvandi around 12.15 am, Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer Shivaji Sutar said.

Due to the derailment, traffic on Daund-Manmad section has been affected, he said. Daund falls under Pune district and Manmad town is located in Nashik district. At least 18 long distance trains have been diverted via alternate routes, while four other trains, including the Pune-Amravati Express and Kolhapur-Gondia Express, are cancelled, Sutar said. The official said since the section in which the derailment occurred has a single track, the re-railing work there is a challenging task.
