Ayodhya verdict: 99 arrested, 65 cases filed in UP for objectionable social media posts

UP police said that 99 persons have been arrested while 65 cases have been registered till Nov 12 for objectionable posts on social media on Ayodhya verdict

The Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday said that 99 persons have been arrested while 65 cases have been registered till November 12 for objectionable posts on social media post-Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya issue. Office of the Director-General of Police (DGP) Uttar Pradesh also informed that action has been taken against 13,016 social media posts, including reporting and deletion of the said posts.

"99 persons arrested and 65 cases registered till November 12, for objectionable posts on social media following the #AyodhyaVerdict. Action has also been taken against 13,016 social media posts, including reporting & deletion of the said posts," informed the DGP office.

Ayodhya Trust in Process

According to sources, Centre has already initiated the process of constituting the trust that will construct and run the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Currently, the officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs are sorting out technicalities to ensure the implementation of the Supreme Court order. According to the sources, a meeting would be called soon to discuss this matter. The Central government is likely to consult legal experts for finalising the structure of the trust. This process has to be completed within the deadline of three months as mandated by the Supreme Court.

SC Verdict on Ayodhya 

The Supreme Court on Saturday delivered a unanimous judgment in the Ayodhya title suit of the disputed area, awarding it to the Hindu parties for the construction of a temple. It also directed the Centre to come up with a scheme within three months to set up a trust which will hand over the outer courtyard and inner courtyard of the site for construction of a temple.

"Central government shall form in three to four months a scheme for setting up of a trust. They shall make necessary arrangements for the management of trust and construction of the temple," Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had said while reading out the verdict. In its order, the Supreme Court also asked the Central or State government to provide an alternate land of 5 acres to the Muslims for the construction of a mosque.
