In a bid to undermine the 'Fit India' movement which was launched on Thursday by PM Modi, the Congress has launched a Twitter campaign - 'Unfit govt, unfit economy'. In a series of tweets posted by the Party's official campaign, Congress mocks at the Indian economy's current state. Giving PM Modi's 'Yoga video' aimed at spreading health awareness, an ugly twist, Congress has tweeted 'The rupee has become weak, look at Saheb's magic. Saheb is on top while the rupee is low, it is in bad condition.' The Prime Minister launched the nation-wide 'Fit India' movement on National Sports Day - 29 August, as announced on his Mann Ki Baat programme to spread awareness on fitness and staying healthy.
Congress also taunted the RBI's recent surplus transfer of Rs. 1.76 Lakh Crores to the Centre. In a picture tweeted by Congress shows the RBI's tiger in its prime titled - 'Before Modi'. While the picture on the right shows a skeletal tiger reduced to bones titled - 'After Modi'. The party has alleged that the government has looted RBI demanding the Centre to reveal its expenditure plan.
After looting the RBI, the least this govt can do is inform taxpayers how their money will be used.— Congress (@INCIndia) August 29, 2019
Unfortunately asking BJP to be transparent is like asking BJP to fix the economy - Impossible. #UnfitGovtUnfitEconomy pic.twitter.com/dUiXwhSiF8
It has also taken a dig at the Economy while the government recently announced a slew of measures aimed at tackling the slow growth. In a 4-min video, Congress alleges that the meaning of economy has changed as the rupee has become poor. It further goes on to say that all businesses have closed, which is all part of Modi's magic. They also allege that as India's GDP growth for FY20 has been revised to 6.7%, it will continue to do so.
These statements come in the light of major Congress leaders praising PM Modi's many policies, calling for Congress to learn from his electoral success. Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor, who has praised PM Modi, has defended his praise highlighting the increase in vote percentage due to PM Modi while urging Congress to learn from it. He also urged Congress to publically stand for nationalistic issues. He was issued a notice by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Tuesday demanding the reason for his praise.
Previously, he stated that he has argued for six years that PM Modi should be praised whenever he says or does the right thing. Similarly, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that PM Modi's governance model is not a "complete negative story" and not recognizing his work and demonizing him all the time is not going to help. Senior advocate and Congress veteran Abhishek Manu Singhvi too had echoed similar sentiments. He took to Twitter saying, ' Ujjawal scheme is among the good deeds of PM Modi', agreeing with Ramesh. All three leaders have been criticized by their own party for such remarks.
