Addressing at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, intricately detailed the ardent security affairs carried out by the Law enforcement agencies across the country and beyond.

In the tweet, he wrote how the security forces are tussling terrorism and security situations in Jammu and Kashmir, insurgency North-East, Naxalists and Maoists.

While the security forces have been effectively grappling with major security challenges like Terrorism, security situation in J&K, insurgency in North East and Left Wing Extremism, much work needs to be done when it comes to civil policing.

Speaking of counter-terrorism operations, he claimed that 125 terrorist suspect arrests have been made, more than that in 2017. He even addressed the global counter-terrorism operations, citing how Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria have been overpowered.

In concerted counter-terrorism operations, Law enforcement agencies have arrested nearly 125 terrorist suspects as against 117 arrested in 2017. Law enforcement agencies have managed to overcome the first tide of propaganda and mobilization by Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

National Investigation Agency (NIA)

The Union Minister reported of the counter-terrorism law enforcement agency, NIA, informing a total of 45 NIA Special Courts have been founded in the country, including the Union territories and holds one of the highest conviction rates in the world. Out of the 183 cases registered, 135 have been charge-sheeted, with a trial concluded in 37 cases, out of which 35 have resulted in a conviction.

In September this year, the NIA conducted searches at seven locations in Tamil Nadu pertaining to suspected Islamic State recruits, leading to seven arrests.

Terror framework in Pakistan and PoK

Singh notified of the functioning terror training camps, launching camps, communication control stations and fiscal support for terrorists and separatists from the state. Although stone-pelting incidences have dwindled, separatists stir anti-India sentiments leads to law and order situation

North-east India and Indo-Myanmar border

The Home Minister said that there has been an improvement in the North-east India region with a lessening of the occurrence of violence in 2018 by 17%, and 38% reduction in civilian deaths.

Security scenario in the North-East region has witnessed steady improvement in recent years. The incidents of violence have come down and the situation has further improved in 2018. There is 17% decline in total incidents and 38% reduction in the casualties of civilians.

He further tweeted, "to plug the gaps on the Indo-Myanmar border, an inter-ministerial Committee headed by MHA has formulated a revised protocol for effective implementation of Free Movement Regime. AFSPA was selectively relaxed in Arunachal Pradesh & Meghalaya, inviting a positive public response."

Citing the recent bomb-blast in Amritsar, the Union Minister lashed out at Pakistan for their efforts to support radical entities.

Cyber Security

Acknowledging the gravity of cyber crimes, the BJP leader said in tweets that "the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-In) issues alerts and advisories regarding latest cyber threats and countermeasures on regular basis. CERT-In has published guidelines for securing IT infrastructure." He added that mock drills of Cybersecurity are timely conducted.

Border Security

He further said that "the government has initiated setting-up of National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC) to generate necessary situational awareness of existing and potential Cyber Security threats". As per Singh, the government is also leveraging on advanced technology to make border security stronger. Comprehensive Integrated Border Manager System (CIBMS) is being used to create invisible electronic barriers, easing the stress off soldiers.

Centre has been making use of the latest technology to make the security system of the borders stronger and effective. In a first of its kind, Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS) or Smart Fencing at the borders has been used.

This Phase 2 has been conceived after vulnerability and gap analysis carried out by Coastal States and Union Territories. Coastal Security Scheme III is under preparation. Efforts continue towards establishing a Central Marine Force to ensure security of the Indian Coastline.
