India LIVE: HP Assembly adopts resolution to declare recent calamity as national disaster

Days after stoking controversy by making anti-Sanatan remark, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhyanidhi Stalin on Wednesday, again reiterated that he will continue to raise voice against it. Speaking at an event in Madurai, Stalin referring to the BJP, said, "The new Parliament building was inaugurated. They got the Adheenams from Tamil Nadu for the inauguration, but the President of India was not invited because she is a widow and is from tribal community. Is this Sanatan Dharma? We will continue to raise our voice against it." 

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday provisionally attached assets worth Rs. 24.01 Crore belonging to Naresh Kumar Sheokand, erstwhile District Revenue Officer (DRO) of Panchkula, Haryana, and others under the provisions of PMLA, 2002. The action has been taken in the case of embezzlement of NHAI and HSIIDC funds. As per the ED, the total attachment in this case stands at Rs. 26.43 Crore till date.

The Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday adopted resolution urging the Centre to declare recent calamity in the state a national disaster. 

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday responded to the alleged corruption in the Staff Selection Board. He said, "The corruption occurred in the Staff Selection Board and papers were sold. We discussed it in detail. Out of nearly 339, we have declared some results. FIR was registered in 9 cases and an inquiry is going on."

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh each for information leading to the arrest of ‘listed terrorist’ Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, and Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa, for promoting the terror activities of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in India. 

A cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each has also been declared by the NIA for information on three associates of these terrorists, namely Parminder Singh Kaira alias Pattu, Satnam Singh alias Satbir Singh alias Satta and Yadvinder Singh alias Yadda.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing Lok Sabha on Wednesday completely cornered the opposition on Women's Reservation Bill debate. An IAF official stated that India's first C295 transport aircraft would be formally inducted into the Indian Air Force by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at a ceremony scheduled on September 25th at the Hindan airbase near Delhi. A total of 56 aircraft would be inducted into the IAF, out which 40 would be manufactured in India by Tata-Airbus joint venture.

Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Durai Murugan on Wednesday said that the Tamil Nadu is only going to get justice in the Cauvery water crisis issue from the Supreme Cout. He said, "I met the minister, Jal Shakti Minister so many times. It is a formality. We are only going to get justice from the Supreme Court. The problem is not releasing the water as per the Supreme Court order. We have been requesting the Supreme Court and the government to implement. If there is enough water, there is no problem. If there is distress, then the Supreme Court should show how to share the water."

The first C-295 transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force landed at Air Force Station, Vadodara on Wednesday noon. An IAF official stated that the aircraft was flown by Group Captain PS Negi and landed today after taking off from Bahrain.

A Chennai court on Wednesday denied the bail to jailed Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji who was arrested in a money laundering case. 

A SpiceJet flight with a cracked window made an emergency landing at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Wednesday. 

As per information, a total of 176 passengers and six cabin-crews were on board. However, the aircraft landed safely without anyone being harmed. 

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked Rahul Gandhi, while addressing at a public rally in Rajasthan's Jodhpur. He said, "Rahul Gandhi says that after his government comes to power in Telangana, he'll add Rs 2500 to the bank accounts of women. US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti on Wednesday said that the Government of the US is working with the Government of India to get 10,000 electric buses on the streets of Indian cities soon. He said, "We know that electric buses can change the world. They are quieter and cleaner. They help us reduce our carbon and give us a future where our planet will be livable. It is one of the reasons the US government is working together with our friends in the Government of India to get more electric buses on the streets of Indian cities quicker. We have launched an initiative to help 10,000 electric buses be on Indian streets."

"Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot should stop the drama of showcasing the development and relief term to the poor and apologise. Look at the National crime record data, Rajasthan is beating every state and going forward in crimes against women...Rajasthan is competing for first position in crimes against women and Rajasthan and Karnataka are competing in appeasement issues," said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in Jodhpur. 

A passenger traveling on flight 6E 6341 from Delhi to Chennai tried to open the emergency exit door cover prior to departure on Wednesday. As per the Standard Operating Procedure, the passenger was declared unruly by the crew and handed over to the local authorities on arrival.

On Women's Reservation Bill, Congress president and LoP in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge said, "In 2010, we had passed the Bill in Rajya Sabha. But it failed to be passed by the Lok Sabha. That is why, this is not a new Bill. Had they taken that Bill forward, it would have been done quickly by this day...I feel that they are publicising this in view of elections but actually unless the delimitation or census takes place...you can feel how long it is going to take. They could have continued with the earlier one but their intentions are something else...But we will insist that women's reservation has to be brought and we will fully cooperate. But the loopholes and drawbacks should be rectified."

On Union Minister Smriti Irani's attck on Gandhi family, Congress MP KC Venugopal said, "BJP and Prime Minister have given a portfolio for her to abuse Congress party and Gandhis. She is doing that duty to appease her master..."

The Congress leader's comments came in response to Smriti Irani's remark on the Sonia anad Rahul Gandhi. "Gandhi Family is only interested in empowering the women in their family. They are not interested in empowering the women in poor or Dalit women. It is unfortunate that Sonia Gandhi was absent today. Her son also left when the discussion on the bill was underway. it is even more unfortunate that when the Speaker asked who supported the bill, BJP and NDA supported it but the Congress party did not..." she said. 

"We all are fighting continuously to maintain social justice but the BJP creates a lot of obstacles to that...BJP does not want the poor, backward-class people to improve. When the DMK formed the government we formed the Social Justice Monitoring Committee which will monitor whether social justice is being properly maintained. Likewise, all states should form a social justice monitor committee...," said Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin during the second conference of the All India Federation for Social Justice.
