After Pakistan's newly appointed caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said that he seeks better ties with India and further enhance cooperation with the Gulf region, Major General (retired) SP Sinha questioned neighbouring nation's intentions saying that it is just Pakistan's trap and it is propaganda, and we (India) should not fall into this trap.

"Pakistan Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani's peace talk proposal is a trap and India should be aware of this fact. Today, Pakistan is in crisis and it wants to come out of it. The neighbouring nation wants to do trade with India. They are not doing voluntarily, it is their compulsion," said Major Gen SP Sinha (retd).

Drawing connection with the second battle of Tarain which took place between Muhammad Ghori and Prithviraj Chauhan in 1192 A.D, the Major General said, "The mistake beween the great King, the great warrior Prithviraj Chauhan did, do we want to repeat the same mistake with Pakistan? Prithviraj Chauhan captured Muhammad 20 times but was himself imprisoned during the 21st battle. He was vanquished and taken prisoner in the second battle of Tarain. He was handled horribly, had hot irons thrust into his eyes, and was rendered blind. However, Prithviraj Chauhan used to leave Ghori unharmed but the moment Ghori won, he blinded Chauhan. Do we want to repeat history?" said Major Gen SP Sinha (retd).

"Pakistan is singing different tunes, there's no question of relying and friendship with Pakistan. There's no question of any interaction regarding peace talks with Pakistan. Their DNA won't change and if we give them some space, the moment they become strong, they will bite us again, " the Major General claimed.

Further, he said, "I want to ask Pakistan, what happened to Liaquat Ali Khan, first Prime Minister of Pakistan and his signed pact with Nehru that minorities in Pakistan will be protected. In 1947, the Hindu population was 22 percent of the population. Where is the pact gone? People are fleeing from the country, and women and daughters there are not protected. Everyone lives in peak fear and now we want to give Pakistan a chance. There's no point of any friendship with Pakistan."

'India's stand clear, no peace talks with Pakistan if...': Defence Expert Col Rohit Dev (Retd)

Speaking on similar lines, Defence Expert Colonel Rohit Dev (retd) said that Pakistan has been making empty promises and India is very clear that as long as you promote terrorism in our country, we are not initiating any peace talks. "I think Jilani forgets the mantle, and talks like a career diplomat from Pakistan. That is not him who is going to run the foreign policy of Pakistan. It is going to be the Pakistan Army because if the Pakistani Army is leading the revival plan of investments in Pakistan, I don't think Jilani should be vocal about other bilateral relations and counties like India foremost," said Colonel Rohit Dev (retd).

Do they want peace with India ?' asks Major General Sanjay Soi (Retd)

Pointing out at Pakistan's restriction on India's extradition of terrorists, Major General Sanjay Soi (retd) said, "I don't know how far they are true with their statement. We (India) don't know if they genuinely want peace with India or if it is just propaganda.
In the past also, they have made such empty statements but when it comes to ground zero, they continue to push terrorists across. Pakistan continues to restrict India's extradition of terrorists."

"We can't have talks or friendship with them. Pakistanis living abroad are totally different from the present government. Their awaam (citizens) want good relations with India. Pakistani citizen now understands that they are being fooled by the Pakistani government," said Major General Sanjay Soi (retd).

Jilani, who served as foreign secretary and Pakistan’s ambassador to the US, said there was a national consensus that Pakistan must have a good relationship with the US while maintaining close ties with China.

“We are clear that Pakistan will not enter into any bloc politics,” he told the Express Tribune newspaper.Pakistan has been treading carefully amid intensified US-China rivalry and, at times, has been forced to make difficult choices.
