Mumbai Crime branch nabs drug lord Kailash Rajput’s brother in Vasai

The Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Mumbai crime branch Tuesday arrested a 52-year-old man—who is pegged to be one of the biggest narcotics suppliers to India.

The Crime Branch on Tuesday, made a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation by apprehending Kamal Rajput, the brother of notorious drug lord Kailash Rajput. Kamal's arrest is directly linked to the high-profile case involving the seizure of 15 kilograms of Ketamine and a staggering 23,000 tablets of Viagra, collectively valued at ₹8 crore. These illicit substances were discovered in March, concealed within a consignment handled by an Andheri-based courier firm.

Kamal Rajput, who is the younger sibling of Kailash Rajput, also known as K.R., was apprehended in Vasai. This arrest brings the total number of individuals detained in relation to this complex case to nine. Kamal was presented in court, and authorities allege that he was overseeing a drug operation in Mumbai on behalf of his brother, Kailash Rajput.

AEC busts drug rackets 

In March of this year, officials from the Anti-Narcotics Cell (AEC) made a significant bust, seizing 15.7 kg of ketamine valued at Rs 7.87 crore, along with 23,410 Viagra tablets. This operation took place at the premises of a courier firm located in suburban Andheri.

In connection with this case, law enforcement took decisive action, apprehending a trusted associate of Kailash Rajput, namely Ali Asgar Shirazi, along with seven other individuals.

Kailash Rajput, a key figure in the operation, and another suspect, Danish Mulla, who is believed to have links to the notorious Dawood Ibrahim, managed to evade capture, prompting the issuance of a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against them, according to an official statement.

To date, the AEC has successfully arrested nine individuals, shedding light on the extensive network responsible for the distribution of ketamine to European countries. This operation marks a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking.
