During the address, he said: "Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of our country and we are proud of it. Many sacrifices have been made but people here will rise past terror and separatism now."

He also said that there were a lot of projects blocked for decades which have now been expedited and focused on the fact that the government has tried to bring a new and different work culture in Jammu and Kashmir by revoking Article 370.

PM Modi also clarified that the J&K administration has been in touch with the Centre since Governor's Rule was imposed in the state. He said: "The central govt has along with revoking Article 370 decided to put it under the governance of the Central government. This decision has been taken after careful consideration."

Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday moved the resolution to abolish Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir in Lok Sabha, a day after it was passed by Rajya Sabha. Speaking in the Lower House of the Parliament, the Home Minister asserted that Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin are part of Jammu and Kashmir and that Kashmir Valley is an integral part of the country.

While addressing Rajya Sabha on Monday, the Home Minister also announced that the government has decided to bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories – Jammu and Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.
