A PUBG addict 16-year-old faked his own kidnapping and demanded a ransom worth three lakh rupees from parents after his mobile phone was taken away by them.

A teenager who was addicted to online game Player Unknown's Battlegrounds game(PUBG) faked his own kidnapping and demanded ransom from parents after his mobile phone was taken away by them. The police reportedly confirmed the news on October 14, of the 16-year-old boy who went missing for a few days. The boy disappeared on October 11 after he told his parents that he is going to meet his friend after which they reported him missing. The boy has been preparing for the entrance examination of IIT and attends regular coaching for it.

Boy disappeared deliberately 

The police in a statement said that the young boy after disappearing deliberately left for Mumbai and while he was on his way to the city in a bus, he got down at the Solapur city in Maharashtra. At the time of the journey, he borrowed a phone from a random person and called his mother, pretending to be her kidnapper of her son. He spoke to her saying that her son has been abducted and he demands a sum of Rs 3 lakh from them after which he will set him free. He returned to Hyderabad the next day and booked a ticket on the internet to the Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh where his mother's parents reside. The mother received a message on her phone of the online ticket booking, which is when she alerted the cops and a team had set off to track him down. The police said that his parents had taken away his phone due to his addiction to the game PUBG. The boy scored really well in his class 10 examination and was performing poorly since he was spending more time on the game.

11-year-old wanted a ban on PUBG

Earlier this year, an 11-year old boy in Maharashtra moved to the High Court to seek a ban the famous online game. The boy named Ahad Nizam, who filed the litigation with the help of his mother, said the game advances brutality, hostility and cyber-bullying. The court should ask the Maharashtra government to put a ban on PUBG, the PIL said. His lawyer said, "The petition has also sought a direction to the central government to form an Online Ethics Review Committee for periodical checking of such violence-oriented online content".
