Following the extradition of AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel from UAE to India on Tuesday, senior BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy, while speaking to Republic TV, made some revelation on the role played by Christian Michel in the AgustaWestland scam and his connections with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
"He is the key figure. Christian Michel is the man who wrote to the AgustaWestland company that if you want to sell helicopters to India, this is the right time because Sonia Gandhi has made it clear to him and to others that she will not step into the existing helicopters, therefore they want to buy new helicopters so that's when he said he knew her and Michel's father was a very good friend of Sonia Gandhi. She used to stay in his house in London. After that AgustaWestland company appointed him as the controller of all middlemen. There were two middlemen and he got the job of controlling. Then he laid down the agenda. In fact, he had very clearly said here is the list. If you ask me from where did I get all this information, I got it from a 225 page judgement of the Manila Appellate court which is equivalent to High Court and everything is there," Dr Subramanian Swamy said
On responding to the statement made by Congress party and its president Rahul Gandhi in the matter, Dr Swamy said:
"The comment by Rahul Gandhi is an insult to UAE because the matter was heard in UAE at two levels - lower court and Supreme Court. It is the SC that decided to extradite him after seeing all the evidences. So, to say that all this is a move by seeking an extra favour... sorry it is not correct."
Speaking on the warning given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Gandhi family-led Congress party, during a rally in Rajasthan on Wednesday, the senior BJP leader stated that under the leadership of PM Modi such cases will be bring to justice:
"With the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will bring all this to a conclusion within the next four months. He is fully apprised of the situation now."
