Ahead of the Assembly polls, which will be held in 2019, Republic TV, in association with CVoter, has come with the National Approval Ratings to bring forward the mood of the nation in the present time. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is presently in power in the centre, as well as 21 states, either alone or through a coalition of NDA.

The biggest state in the country in terms of seat-share, Uttar Pradesh was won handsomely by BJP in 2014, as they romped towards 73 seats. Congress mustered a mere 2 seats, while the SP, who were in power back then, won just five.

But the contest in 2019 will be close, extremely close. BJP's figure will fall down to 35, and with their ally Apna Dal, NDA is expected to end up with just 36 seats. The 'gathbandhan' of SP and BSP will be the frontrunners with 42 seats, while the Congress, whose 'Mahagathbandhan' seems like a dream now, will end up with a mere two votes.

  • Massive story coming out of Uttar Pradesh and it is not looking good for Yogi Adityanath because he seems to be undoing the Amit Shah magic that was at play in 2014. The BJP seat tally is projected to go from 76 to 36 with 35 of it's own,. This is a massive fall.

  • The Mahaghatbandhan of the SP and the BSP is set to gain a massive 42 seats. This is a massive victory combine got 5 seats in 2014, so to skyrocket that to 42 seats in 2019 would be a gamechanger.

  • The Congress unequivocally is the biggest loser given that after mayawati abandoning Rahul, there is not hope for Congress inroads in UP.

  • Considering the fact that Amit Shah and Modi are yet to hit the ground and even in this scenario, the NDA’s voteshare has not seen a sharp decline and fallen by only 1.9%, there may be hope for the BJP.

(The results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections may or may not reflect the results or scenarios of the state assembly elections, nevertheless, to establish where we stand at present, Republic TV and CVoter has presented the National Approval Ratings.)
