A day after All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) walked out of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, the Madurai unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday stuck posters mocking the 'two leaves' party and its general secretary Edappadi Palanisamy.
The poster that featured BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai and Prime Minister Narendra Modi compared AIADMK and its leadership to Pulikesi (a clown king).
The content of the poster read, "We have saffron forces who are like warriors, and people to uphold Sanatan, when we have leaders like tigers why do we have to worry about pulikesi ( a clown king)."
The AIADMK on Monday severed its ties with the BJP-led NDA and said it would lead a separate front for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by K Palaniswami at the party's headquarters in Chennai.
"AIADMK unanimously passed a resolution in the meeting. AIADMK is breaking all ties with the BJP and NDA alliance from today. The state leadership of the BJP has been continuously making unnecessary remarks about our former leaders, our general secretary EPS and our cadres for the past year,” said K P Munusamy, AIADMK Deputy Coordinator.
In a veiled reference to the AIADMK, Annamalai said, "We have seen the need for a political change. This is a challenging time. We need to oppose many." The BJP TN President said that he is determined to overcome the challenges.

"If I don't do certain things, then I will lose the trust you have placed on me...we need to face challenges, overcome hurdles, take a stance to oppose some individuals," he said. In order to ensure this, the party should gear up in this direction, Annamalai said.
