Lucknow: Nineteen people were killed in rain-related incidents across Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours, relief department officials said on Wednesday. More than 600 villages in 12 districts are currently affected by floods.

Between 6:30 pm on Tuesday and 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 16 individuals died from lightning strikes, two drowned, and one person succumbed to a snake bite. Uttar Pradesh saw an average of 30 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours, the officials said.

633 Villages Inundated

Heavy rains have caused water levels in several rivers to rise, flooding 633 villages in 12 districts, as reported by the department. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited some flood-affected areas in Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit districts. He took stock of relief material being provided in these areas.

Rescue Efforts Underway
