Ayodhya is set to sparkle brighter than ever this Diwali, with over 2.5 million lamps ready to light up 55 ghats along the Sarayu River during the grand Deepotsav festival.

Preparations are in full swing, with 95% of the decoration work on the ghats already completed. This year’s celebration 10,000 people will be allowed to participate in the festivities.

A special viewing gallery is being constructed at Ram Ki Paidi to accommodate attendees, ensuring they have a perfect view of the grand spectacle. The gallery is expected to be ready ahead of the event.

Compared to last year, when lamps were lit on 51 ghats, this year’s plan will see the glow of diyas spread across 55 ghats, making the celebration even grander.

SS Mishra, the Nodal Officer for Deepotsav, shared the significance of this year’s event: “Preparations are progressing rapidly. Lord Ram will be seated in a grand palace this year, and Deepotsav will be celebrated on an even larger scale.”

Ayodhya, the legendary city known from the epic Ramayana, is revered as the birthplace of Lord Ram and holds a sacred place in Hindu tradition. It is regarded as the first of the seven most important pilgrimage sites in Hinduism, adding spiritual significance to the annual Deepotsav celebration.
