70-Foot Tall Lord Ram Statue Unveiled in Nashik's Tapovan Ahead of Dussehra
Nashik East MLA Rahul Dhikle, who played a leading role in the statue coming up, said it will boost tourism prospects in the city.
Nashik: A 70-foot tall statue of Lord Ram was inaugurated on Friday in Nashik’s Tapovan area, an important site where the deity is believed to have spent part of his 14-year exile. The statue was unveiled in Ramsrushti Garden, located in Panchavati, by ISKCON's Gaurang Das Prabhu and prominent economist Dr. Vinayak Govilkar.
The statue, made from fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) and supported by a reinforced concrete (RCC) structure, stands on a 15-foot-high slab, with a towering 108-foot-high flag post nearby. Officials emphasised that extra precautions have been taken to ensure its stability, following the recent collapse of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Malvan, Sindhudurg.
Speaking at the event, Gaurang Das Prabhu expressed hope that the statue would serve as an inspiration for devotees. Nashik East MLA Rahul Dhikle, who played a key role in bringing the project to life, highlighted the potential tourism boost for Nashik, thanks to this monumental addition to the city’s landscape.
