Who is Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Appointed as Next Chief of the Air Staff

New Delhi: Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh has been appointed as the next Chief of the Air Staff on Saturday.

Meanwhile, present Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari will demit the office on September 30, 2024.

Who is Amar Preet Singh

Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, is presently serving as Vice Chief of the Air Staff, as the next Chief of the Air Staff, in the rank of Air Chief Marshal, with effect from the afternoon of September 30, 2024. 

Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh was commissioned into the IAF on December 21, 1984. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College. 

Over his career, he has held various significant positions, including commanding Officer of a MiG-27 squadron, Air Officer Commanding of an air base, Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command, and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command.

He is a qualified Flying Instructor and an Experimental Test Pilot with over 4,900 hours of flying on various aircraft.

He has been honored with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) for his distinguished service.
