Ajit Pawar-Led NCP Suspends MLC Satish Chavan For 6 Years Due To Anti-Party Activities
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, has suspended MLC Satish Chavan for six years due to anti-party activities.
Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar , has suspended MLC Satish Chavan for six years due to anti-party activities. Chavan, who represents the Aurangabad Teachers' constituency in the Maharashtra legislative council, was accused of releasing a leaflet criticising the MahaYuti government's failure to ensure reservation for the Maratha community. He claimed that the government had failed to address the reservation issues of the Maratha, Dhangar, and OBC communities.
State NCP ( Ajit Pawar faction) chief Sunil Tatkare expressed displeasure over Chavan's statements, stating that they were uncalled for and warranted disciplinary action. Tatkare emphasized that the MahaYuti government is working in the interest of all citizens, and Chavan's actions breached party discipline.
Before his suspension, Chavan had met with state NCP general secretary Shivajirao Garje to argue his case. Chavan had also met NCP SP president Sharad Pawar , seeking to contest the Assembly election from the Gangapur seat in the Aurangabad district.
Earlier, Chavan criticised the Eknath Shinde -led MahaYuti government's handling of the Maratha movement and demanded a caste-based census to address reservation issues.
This suspension comes after the NCP split last year, when five MLCs, including Chavan, joined Ajit Pawar , who separated from the NCP to join the ruling alliance of the BJP and Eknath Shinde -led Shiv Sena.
