New Delhi: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi ignited a debate in Parliament on Monday, prompting swift rebuttals from religious authorities. He stated, “Along with Hinduism, Islam, and Sikhism also talk about courage. In Islam, when someone prays, they take 'Abhay Mudra' with both hands.”

However, his remarks did not go uncontested. Gaddi Nashin-Dargah Ajmer Sharif, swiftly rebutted Gandhi's claim, stating, "There is no Abhay Mudra in Islam."

The Chief expressed disappointment over Gandhi's statements, emphasizing that no Islamic scripture or teachings of saints support linking such a gesture to Islamic prayer.

He further remarked, "Linking any other symbolic posture to the philosophy and the faith of Islam is not the right thing to do," urging Gandhi to develop a better understanding of religious symbols and their respective faiths.

Patna Sahib Gurdwara Chief pulls up Rahul Gandhi for lack of understanding

Jagjot Singh, president of Gurudwara Patna Sahib also hit out at Rahul Gandhi for lack of understanding. “Today is a very sad day because the way our leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi presented facts about religions in front of the House, according to me he had no information, he presented incomplete information, wrong information in the House,” he said.

He further urged the Congress MP to “first have complete information.”

“I would like to request him that until there is complete information about any religion, be it Sikhism, Hinduism or any other religion, one should first have complete information, then speak...It is a very good thing that he talked about violence but he probably does not know about the violence that happened with the Sikhs in 1984. I want to tell him that there are many families in Delhi itself, he should go to them once and apologize,” the Patna Sahib Gurdwara Chief remarked.
