Body of Missing Army Jawan Found in J&K's Anantnag with Bullet Injuries
Two jawans of the territorial Army were abducted by terrorists in the forest area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu: One jawan was found dead with bullet injuries after he went missing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, as per sources.
In response to the incident, the Indian Army, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police, launched an operation to search for the missing Army jawan.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said that a joint counter-operation was a launched along with police and other agencies in Kazan Forest on October 8 as one soldier of the Territorial Army remained missing. The massive rescue and search operation was carried out overnight and is still underway.
"OP KOKERNAG, #Anantnag Based on intelligence input, a joint counter-terrorist operation was launched by #IndianArmy alongwith @JmuKmrPolice & other agencies in Kazwan Forest #Kokernag on 08 Oct 24. Operation continued overnight as one soldier of Territorial Army was reported missing. Massive rescue and search operation is in progress," the Chinar Corps tweeted.
This comes as earlier on October 5, two terrorists were neutralised and a large quantity of "warlike stores" were recovered during an anti-terrorist joint operation in J&K's Kupwara, as per a statement from the Indian Army.
The joint operation was launched by the Army, BSF and Jammu and Kashmir Police on October 4 after the security personnel on October 3, received specific information about the movement of the terrorists, likely to infiltrate through the Keran Sector.
