Boat Capsizes in Assam's Goalpara; 4 Dead, 1 Missing

Guwahati: Bodies of four persons were recovered and one person is still missing after a boat capsized in the Goalpara district of Assam on Thursday.
The incident took place in the Simlitola Narayanpara area of the Goalpara district when a country boat in which a group of villagers were being ferried, capsized in the water body. The villagers were returning from a cremation when this incident happened.
Nabaneet Mahanta, Superintendent of Police of Goalpara District, told ANI over the phone that, so far, four bodies have been recovered and one person is still missing.
There were 20 people on that boat at that time and a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has been engaged in the search and rescue operations.
"SDRF teams are engaged in search and rescue operations. So far, four bodies have been recovered. Locals said that there were around 20 people on the boat," Mahanta said.
