Guwahati: Draped in a traditional ‘Mekhela Chador’ and adorned with jewellery, Assam’s first artificially intelligent teacher, ‘Iris,’ has taken the spotlight at a private school, impressing students and teachers alike with its prompt and precise responses.

During a recent session, Iris effortlessly handled a barrage of questions from curious students, including detailed explanations about haemoglobin. "Whether the questions were from their syllabus or about anything, 'Iris' provided answers in no time and with examples and references," said a spokesperson for Royal Global School.

Students were captivated by Iris's ability to engage in various activities, including gestures like handshakes, making the learning process both fun and interactive. "The children were very excited because the artificially intelligent teacher had answers to their questions,” a school teacher remarked.

Iris, equipped with a voice-controlled assistant, ensures swift and detailed responses to student queries, showcasing a remarkable integration of artificial intelligence in education. Developed in collaboration with Makerlabs Edu-tech under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project by NITI Aayog, Iris represents a significant leap forward in educational technology.
