Assam: Man Arrested for Killing Friend Over a Property Dispute

A man allegedly killed his friend, on Sunday night over some financial dispute in Assam's Kokrajhar district.

Kokrajhar: A man allegedly killed his friend, on Sunday night over some financial dispute in Assam's Kokrajhar district. The incident happened in New Amguri village in the Balajan police outpost area, police said on Monday.

The accused, identified as Sokio Basumatary, had an argument with his friend Derhasat Basumatary over some financial matters. In a fit of anger, Sokio allegedly slashed his friend's throat with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot, police said.

The villagers informed the police, and Sokio was subsequently arrested, they said.

Man Shot Dead Over Property Dispute in Delhi

A similar event was reported in Delhi on June 23, a man was shot dead inside a shop in the Kalindi Kuja area, and the accused has been arrested.

According to the information from Kalindi Kuja police station, gunshots were heard at a shop at Jaitpur Extension. The police arrived at the scene to discover that Mirza Associates' shop, situated on Umar Maszid Road in E-block, Jaitpur Extension, Khadda Colony, was closed. The locals were alleging that the gunshot incident occurred inside the shop. The crime team was summoned, and the crime scene was inspected. Local police got the shutter of the shop opened & found that one person, identified as 23-year-old Zaid, was lying dead inside the shop. Prima facie, it emerged that the deceased Zaid had suffered a gunshot injury to the chest. Empty cartridges were also found at the spot. 

Man Murdered Over Property Dispute in Telangana

A similar case of murder over a property dispute was reported in Telangana. A 32-year-old man was murdered by his younger brother and father in their house in Karimnagar district, on 17 June 2024. 

According to police, Kote Gangaram (55) and his younger son Rakesh (30) attacked Rajesh (32) with a hammer and stabbed him with a knife at Mohanaraopet in Korutla Mandal on 16 June in the evening. The family members of Rajesh rushed him to a hospital here where he succumbed to his injuries on 17 June.

"There were some disputes regarding the partition of a family property between the accused and the deceased," police said. Police have registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the wife of the deceased and a search is on for Kote Gangaram and Rakesh.
