Baba Siddique Murder: What We Know About 3 Accused Arrested for NCP Leader's Killing

Mumbai: The assassination of senior NCP leader Baba Siddique has sent shock waves across the country, raising concerns over safety and security of prominent people in the state. Interestingly, the three-time MLA and former Maharashtra minister was killed despite having Y category security cover. As probe intensifies into Baba Siddique murder case, three people involved in the killing, including two shooters, have been arrested so far. Meanwhile, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on the NCP leader, citing his favors to underworld figures like Dawood Ibrahim and Anuj Thapan.

Baba Siddique died on Saturday, October 12, after being shot at multiple times in Mumbai's Bandra by assailants. Baba Siddique was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Subsequently, multiple teams were formed and sent to different states to nab those linked with the murder.

What we know so far about Baba Siddique murder case:

• Mumbai Police, probing the murder of Baba Siddiqui, have arrested two men who allegedly fired shots at him. 
• The two shooters claimed to be part of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has previously issued threats to Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
• The alleged shooters have been identified as Gurmail Baljit Singh (23) from Haryana and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap (19) from Uttar Pradesh, while the third accused Pravin Lonkar (29) was arrested from Pune on Sunday.
• The Facebook post on behalf of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claiming responsibilty for the killing was shared by Pravin's brother, Shubham. The post later went viral. 
• It is believed that Shubham is one of the key conspirators who, enlisted Dharmaraj Kashyap and Shivkumar Gautam, the absconding shooter in the murder plot.
• Siddique shooters used firecrackers as cover to attack him, taking advantage of Dussehra.
• Baba Siddique was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
• The Mumbai Police have identified six individuals altogether linked with the high-profile murder. While three of them are currently in custody, a search is underway for the others.
• As per media reports, the plan to murder Siddique was finalised in a Patiala jail with the help of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. 
• Before executing the murder, the attackers did recce at places linked to Siddique, keeping an eye on him for over 25 days.
• Meanwhile, Mumbai Police recovered Zigana pistol, a Tukey-made weapon which is banned in India, considered as the first choice of Lawrence's shooters, from the possession of the alleged shooters.
• Delhi Police's Special Team has also been roped in to probe the murder case. 
• An ossification test of accused Dharmaraj Kashyap was conducted to ascertain whether he was a minor. The test proved that he is not minor, an official said on Monday. He underwent the test after his lawyer claimed that he was a minor while he was being produced before the court by the crime branch team. He was sent to police custody till October 21.
• The investigation agencies are preparing to question the Dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose name has cropped up in several high profile murders, who is currently lodged in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat .
