Bangladeshi Woman Arrested for Human Trafficking in Tripura

Agartala: In a joint operation with Border Security Force (BSF), police arrested a Bangladeshi national for her alleged involvement in human trafficking in West Tripura's Charipara area in Tripura. The accused woman, identified as Khadija Begum (36), is a resident of Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh.
"A Bangladeshi woman named Khadija Begum was arrested by the GRP (Government Railway Police) from the Charipara area in a joint operation with BSF (Border Security Force) Unit 42 and Amtali Police Station on Saturday afternoon," news agency ANI quoted police as saying.
According to sources, the authorities received a tip-off regarding her and laid a trap to nab her.
Khadija is scheduled to appear before the Agartala court. Police had received inputs about suspected illegal activities at Agartala Railway Station.

The local police and BSF on Thursday conducted a joint operation and arrested 10 individuals, including eight Bangladeshi nationals.
The operation was conducted after reports of cross-border human trafficking activities emerged in the state. The individuals were intercepted as they were preparing to board a train, allegedly for illegal movement across the India-Bangladesh border.

Authorities also indicated that they will be coordinating with Bangladeshi officials to get the full details of the case and potentially repatriate the Bangladeshi nationals.
These arrests is latest in the series of the ongoing efforts by security forces to curb illegal cross-border activities and human trafficking in the region.
