In a tragic incident that shocked locals in Puri district, a 46-year-old bangle trader, Shukdev Behera from Dhenkanal, collapsed while selling his wares. The incident occurred last Thursday in the Gachkali Street area, where Shukdev was walking around selling earrings and bangles. He suddenly collapsed onto his vehicle, with his face falling into the packet of bangles he was carrying.
Police and bystanders immediately rushed Shukdev to the nearest hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival. According to initial reports, the cause of death was a heart attack.
The incident garnered attention after a gut-wrenching video was posted by a user on X (formerly Twitter). The caption reads, “#Life doesn't depend on anything #Bali Sahi, Puri #Gash Kali.” In the video, Shukdev’s lifeless body is seen lying on the street as locals gathered around him. The video is quite disturbing as the visuals are heart wrenching.
Another user reposted the video, adding, “Seems to be a Heart Attack. A hard working Man lost his life while at work. If a female working in a corporate expires due to work pressure, Everyone starts talking about work pressure. But there is no concern for hard working Men.”
The incident has raised conversations about the harsh realities faced by laborers, with many expressing condolences to Shukdev’s family while highlighting the challenges and lack of attention given to hard-working individuals like him.
One of the users said, “When the incident happened, if someone had given cpr immediately, that person would have been alive today!! Creating awareness among people is more about cpr, rather than making videos!! Jai Jagannath.”
Another one wrote, “This is heartbreaking. Loss of life with incidents like these on the rise make you realize how fragile life is, for everyone watching. For us, its a fleeting moment but for the dead persons family its all they have which has been taken away from them.
Om Shanti to the departed soul. May he bless his family from the beyond and give them blessings to bear this immense irreparable loss.”
