New Delhi: All banking services across India are likely to be affected across India after the All India Bank Employees Association has called for a 1-day strike. As per reports, the strike is to protest against the action of the Bank of India in charge of meeting all the 13 office bearers of the Bank staff union.

Today's strike will see participation from members of some five other bank unions, including the United Forum of Bank Unions, the All India Bank Officers Confederation, the National Confederation of Bank Employees, the Bank Employees Federation of India, and the All India Bank Officers Association, among many others.

CH Venkatchalam, General Secretary of AIBEA, earlier briefed the media about the banks' strike and released a press statement for the same outlining the association's demands to the government.

"AIBEA’s call for strike on 28th August 2024, Against political attack on trade union AIBOC–NCBE–BEFI–AIBOA–INBOC–INBEF extend support," Venkatchalam wrote in a post on X.

AIBEA’s General Secretary Venkatchalam shared the update on the strike by putting forward demand from the Centre.

"AIBEA’s call for strike on 28th August 2024, Against political attack on trade union AIBOC–NCBE–BEFI–AIBOA–INBOC–INBEF extend support," he said.

All India Bank Officers Confederation, United Forum of Bank Unions, Bank Employees Federation of India, National Confederation of Bank Employees and All India Bank Officers Association are supporting AIBEA's strike.

However, other than Venkatchalam's statement there is no other official statement regarding the bank strike.
