Bengaluru News: Garbage Collection to Be Disrupted in the City for Two Days
The garbage-laden compactors did not return on Tuesday Morning, the auto tippers decided not to collect the waste as it could not be disposed of.
Bengaluru: On Tuesday, the city experienced a disruption in garbage collection as auto tippers were absent, following difficulties faced by the BBMP in unloading waste at the Mitaganahalli landfill.
The garbage-laden compactors did not return on Tuesday morning, leading auto tippers to halt waste collection, as there was no place to dispose of it.
Harish Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd, stated that waste collection would resume on Wednesday after successful discussions with protesting farmers. He confirmed that garbage was not collected on Tuesday.
As per reports, former MLA Aravind Limbavalli opposed the dumping of garbage in his constituency, citing that the BBMP had not provided any grants for the development of villages affected by the landfill site.
A communication from the Mahadevapura Taskforce to residents stated: "Since the garbage compactors have not returned, the auto tippers are full with Monday’s garbage and are unable to proceed with door-to-door collection."
