New Delhi: Fraudsters have come up with a new scam where they have started targeting people with messages and calls and threatening them over the disconnection of PNG gas connections if a certain amount is not paid to them. Accordingly, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has issued an alert to its customers in this regard.

Scamsters Introducing themselves as IGL officials

Customers are receiving messages :”Dear consumer, your gas connection bill has not been updated. Your gas connection will be cut off. For more information, call the given number: 9xxxxx." Many scamsters are referring to themselves as IGL officials.

Don’t respond to such communications: IGL

"Attention IGL PNG Customers: Please be cautious of fraudulent calls and messages pretending to be from Indraprastha Gas Limited. These scams may ask you to download an app or click on links for bill payments, often threatening disconnection. Do not respond to such communications," IGL said in a post.

How to avoid getting scammed

  • Only make payments on the official website.
  • Ignore suspicious message
  • Don’t click any attachments/links
  • Officials never ask for bank details from customers

IGL has urged the customers to remain cautious and avoid panic.
