Amitabh Bachchan 

Amitabh, a well-known and esteemed film personality, is still using his celebrity status to bring attention to varoius problems. Amitabh is known for his noble gestures and has been involved with UNICEF, and in 2005, he was named a Goodwill Ambassador.  

He backed UNICEF's Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign that same year in an attempt to increase public awareness of HIV/AIDS and sexual violence against children.

Preity Zinta, UNAIDS ambassador in India, has frequently linked herself to charitable causes. She had adopted 34 girls from an impoverished school in Rishikesh on her previous birthday. 

She has spoken out against AIDS and HIV on various occasions. The Bollywood actress is exhibiting remarkable philanthropy, often donating earnings from her IPL franchise.

Shabana Azmi 

This Padmashri awardee actress has been vocal about AIDS/HIV awareness for quiet long time. Azmi can be seen at various charitable events and functions sharing her ideas about this horrendous disease.  She also happens to the member of the National AIDS Commission of India, is a UN Goodwill Ambassador, and was nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha in 1997. 

Diya Mirza 

Dia Mirza has worked closely with the Andhra Pradesh government to promote awareness of HIV and cruelty on women, among other causes. In addition, she adopts two to four cancer patients annually and is an active member of the Cancer Patients Aid Association. Besides that, the naturalist has taken in two leopard cubs from the Lucknow zoological park. 

Shilpa Shetty 

The actress who portrayed the HIV-positive protagonist in the well-known Bollywood film "Phir Milenge" received praise from critics for her work. She has spoken out about HIV/AIDS awareness on a number of platforms and at events. 

Gul Panag 

Former Miss India who runs the Colonel Shamsher Singh Foundation can be seen supporting HIV/AIDS campaign on various occasion. She is a certified pilot, a biker, and a half-marathon runner. Gul Panag, a fitness enthusiast and health activist, co-founded the 2017 health and fitness startup MobieFit.

World AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1st, serves as a global reminder to unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS. This day raises awareness about the ongoing challenges, honors those affected by the virus, and supports efforts to eliminate the stigma surrounding the disease.
