3 people have died due to water filling in a basement in Jaipur amid heavy rains, days after the tragic death of 3 UPSC aspirants in Delhi, in the same way.

Jaipur: Three people in Jaipur have died due to water filling in a basement in Dhwaj Nagar area amid heavy rains and waterlogging.

This comes days after the tragic demise of three UPSC aspirants who drowned in the basement of their coaching institute in Delhi's Old Rajendar Nagar area.

Three people including a child have inside the basements after water entered two houses at Dhwaj nagar in Jaipur.

The rescue and search operations went on for hours; the bodies of all three deceased have been recovered.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Amit Kumar said that the operation concluded after a team from the SDRF retrieved the bodies of Kamal, his niece Purvi and Pooja; Pooja and Purvi belonged to one family, while Kamal was from another family.

Water Entered Basement due to Waterlogging amid Heavy Rains

After the water entered the basement of their house, the family members began removing their belongings, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Amit Kumar said.

During this time, three people from two families got trapped in the basement as it filled with water, Kumar said.

A rescue operation was initiated and mud pumps were deployed to pump out the rainwater, the DCP said.

The bodies of the victims have been shifted to Kanwatiya Government Hospital for postmortem, the police said.

Incident Comes Days After UPSC Aspirants' Death in Delhi

This incident comes days after three UPSC aspirants tragically lost their lives after drowning in the basement of their coaching institute, Rau's IAS Coaching Circle in Delhi's Old Rajendar Nagar.

The three aspirants who were in the institute's basement which was illegally being used as a library, drowned after water filled the area due to waterlogging following the bursting of a drainage pipe.

Massive protests are being held by the other students; a total of seven arrests have been made so far in the case and an investigation continues.
