The Air India flights that received the threats were AI 102, AI 106, AI 112, AI 116, AI 117, AI 121, AI 126, AI 128, AI 131, and AI 137.
According to sources, the threats were made through a post on X, claiming that explosives had been planted on the planes and that no one would be able to come out safe. The threats led to immediate action from the security agencies, with a few planes being grounded and passengers evacuated.
According to the sources, the threat caused significant disruption to air travel, with many flights being delayed or diverted.
This is not the first time that Indian airlines have faced bomb threats in recent days. Over 100 flights have received threats in the last week alone, with almost all of them being hoaxes.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has taken serious note of the threats and has held a meeting with airline CEOs to address the issue. "We are taking all necessary steps to prevent such hoaxes and ensure the safety of passengers," said a BCAS official.
Amidst a series of bomb threats on flights, the central government has mulled to tackle the seriousness of the threats and take action against those involved in such activities.
Meanwhile, passengers have expressed frustration at the disruption caused by the threats.
