Amit Shah Chairs J&K Security Review Meet Ahead of Amarnath Yatra, Next Meeting on June 16

New Delhi: Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah on Friday held a security review meeting ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting also comes amid increasing incidents of terror-related activities in the Valley, including the recent attack on a bus ferrying pilgrims.

The home minister was briefed about the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the steps taken following the terror incidents, Republic has learnt.

The next round of security meeting is expected to take place on June 16 in the presence of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Army Chief, IB chief and Raw chief.

DG of Para forces along with other officers will also likely attend the high-level security review meeting.

Terrorists struck at four places in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir over the past four days, killing nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan while leaving seven security personnel and several others injured.

Two suspected Pakistani terrorists were also killed in an encounter with security forces in Kathua district and a large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
