Bengal Bandh: The West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called a 12-hour Bengal bandh on August 28. The 12-hour Bangla bandh will continue from 6 am to 6 pm. "West Bengal BJP calls a 12-hour West Bengal bandh tomorrow," said Union Minister and WB BJP president Sukanta Majumdar.
The BJP also demanded presidential rule and accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of being responsible for the violence during the student protests earlier in the day.
The party also charged the TMC supremo with protecting those involved in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, calling her a “dictator” and demanding her resignation to ensure a fair investigation.
The BJP has also called for the CBI to administer a polygraph test to Banerjee and Police Commissioner Vineet Goel, who allegedly initially claimed the victim died by suicide.
