Noida: A major fire broke out at a shanty in Noida Sector 8 on Wednesday morning, leaving three children dead.  The fire broke out at around 4am in the morning. The tragic incident was reported in Thane phase 1 area.

The three girls, who have been identified as Aastha, Naina and Aradhya, were sisters. As per sources, their father and mother also suffered burn injuries in the incident. While their father, Daulat Ram has been hospitalised, their mother is out of danger.

All the four were rushed to hospitals where the girls were declared dead while Daulat was referred to Safdarjung Hospital. Upon receiving the information, a team from the fire services department rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations.

Electrical short-circuit led to fire

As per officials, an electrical short-circuit caused the fire. It is learnt that Daulat Ram is a e-rickshaw driver who went his home to charge the battery of his vehicle which caught fire.

"We were promptly informed, and both the police and fire brigade responded. The forensic team is at the site conducting an investigation," news agency ANI quoted him as saying.

DM Verma said that five people, including the three girls, were inside a shanty when the fire erupted. The girls succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

"The three girls who were sleeping on the bed suffered fatal burn injuries and died at the hospital. Their father, who sustained 60 to 70 percent burns, has been referred to Safdarjung Hospital. Their mother also suffered injuries but is reported to be out of danger," he added.

DM Verma noted that the victims were from Mainpuri. "We are investigating the incident further, and the government will provide compensation and support to the family," he added.
