Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, mother of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, in connection with a kidnapping case.

The abduction case is linked to sexual abuse case against suspended JDS leader Prajwal Revanna.

The bail was granted to her on the condition that she will not be allowed to enter Mysuru and Hassan districts in any circumstances except for the purpose of investigation.

A single judge bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit also highlighted that Bhavani had answered 85 questions posed by the SIT during the three days when she had appeared before the investigating officer.

The bench noted that "when she has already answered 85 questions it's not fair to say that she's not co-operating with all questions of SIT."

Justice Dixit while delivering the verdict remarked, "I have marched a step forward in protecting a woman from unnecessary or avoidable custody. In our social setup they are hub of the family."

The abduction case was registered by the KR Nagar police in Mysuru. Incidentally, her husband and JDS MLA from Holenarasipura constituency, HD Revanna, is also an accused in this case.

Allowing her petition, Justice Dixit said that the interim anticipatory bail granted to her on June 7 stood confirmed.
