Mandya Riot Case: Government Replaces Intelligence Chief

Mandya: The Karnataka Government on Friday announced several high-level police transfers effective immediately, according to a notification from the Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru, dated September 13, 2024.
K.V. Sharath Chandra, IPS (KN-1997), currently serving as Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence, has been reassigned as Additional Director General of Police, Recruitment. This move relieves Umesh Kumar, IPS, of the concurrent charge. Additionally, K.V. Sharath Chandra will now also oversee the role of Additional Director General & Commissioner, Traffic and Road Safety, taking over from Alok Kumar, IPS.
Hemant M. Nimbalkar, IPS (KN-1998), previously serving as Additional Director General of Police & Commissioner, Department of Information and Public Relations, Bengaluru, has been transferred to the position of Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence, succeeding K.V. Sharath Chandra. Sri Hemant M. Nimbalkar will concurrently retain his previous role as Commissioner of Information and Public Relations.

These changes are effective immediately and will remain in place until further orders.
