BREAKING: Punjab Teen Gang-Raped Inside Bus at ISBT Dehradun, 5 Arrested

Delhi: Days after horrific rape and murder case of  woman doctor in Kolkata, a 16-year-old girl from Punjab was allegedly gang-raped on a bus at ISBT Dehradun. So far, five people have been arrested in connction with the case.

A case has been registered against unknown accused at ISBT Police Chowki of Kotwali Patel Nagar.

The matter came to light after a team of Child Welfare Committee rescued the teenager from ISBT. Initially, police detained two suspects in the case and questioned them.

According to sources, the teen had boarded a UP Roadways bus from Moradabad. She reached ISBT Dehradun at around 2.30 am on the night of August 13.

It is alleged that the bus was almost empty and about five people in the bus gang-raped her. Following the incident, the accused took the teenager off the bus and left. It is learnt that the helpline team of Child Welfare Committee found the teenager in a distraught state outside ISBT.

The teenager told that she is a resident of Punjab and her parents passed away. She added her sister and brother-in-law asked her to leave house in Punjab on August 11, following which she headed to Delhi, then Moradabad and finally Dehradun.

According to the girl, the bus was red in colour, from this it is being assumed that the bus may belong to Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation.

An investigation into the case is underway. Also, the CCTV footage of ISBT is being examined by the police.
