A Toronto-bound Air Canada flight which was scheduled to depart from Delhi received a bomb threat email late on Tuesday, said police.

New Delhi: A Toronto-bound Air Canada flight which was scheduled to depart from Delhi received a bomb threat email late on Tuesday, said police.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital received the threat email at around 10.50pm. The flight that was scheduled to depart for Toronto at around 10.50 pm was sent to the isolation bay.

Acting swiftly, the airport authorities carried a thorough inspection. However, nothing suspicious was found. 

“On 4th June at 10.50 PM, an email was received in DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) office, IGI Airport with the threat of a bomb inside Air Canada flight which was scheduled to depart to Toronto,” Delhi Police said in a statement.

Police Initiates Legal Action

“Following standard security protocols, a thorough inspection was conducted and nothing suspicious was found. Legal action is under process,” it added.

A Legal action has been initiated in the matter. The threat turned out to be a hoax.

In a similar incident last, a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Varanasi received a bomb threat. The Delhi Airport authority had on Saturday received a threat regarding a bomb allegedly being carried by a passenger on the Delhi-bound IndiGo flight number 6E 2232 from Varanasi. 

The flight was coming from Varanasi to the national capital on Saturday evening, when the bomb scare was flagged at the airport. Immediately after the threat was received, the airport security and the IGI Airport police implemented preventive measures and evacuated a runway for the emergency landing of the aircraft. 

As a precautionary measure, the passengers at Terminal-3 were alerted and the terminal was also evacuated. The area around the runway was cordoned-off and all the emergency services were put in place in a high alert mode near the runway. Amid high alert situation, the IndiGo 6E 2232, from Varanasi, landed at the airport at around 5.50 pm at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Following a thorough inspection, nothing suspicious was found.
