BTech Student Caught Red-Handed While Filming Women Inside Bengaluru College Restroom, Arrested
According to sources, Kushal, a final-year computer science student, entered the women’s washroom around 10.30 am on Friday to record a video.
Bengaluru: In a concerning incident, a 21-year-old BTech student was caught recording a video inside women’s washroom at his college in the city on Friday.
The incident unfolded after a student in the washroom spotted his mobile phone near a cubicle and screamed, drawing the attention of other students nearby. Thereafter, police were informed who subsequently arrested the accused student, identified as Kushal Gowda.
According to sources, Kushal, a final-year computer science student, entered the women’s washroom around 10.30 am on Friday, locked the door, and switched on his mobile camera. About 15 minutes later, his phone rang, drawing attention of a woman in the next cubicle. The girls grew suspicious when they tried to open the attached doors of cubicle and it was found locked from inside.
Upon being confronted, he refused to open the door, prompting other women to alert the college authorities. He was then brought to the principal’s office.
It is learnt that the accused student had placed his mobile phone in a cavity between the walls of the adjacent cubicles. There are about seven cubicles for women. It has also come to light that the CCTV cameras near the women’s toilets were not operational and there was no woman attendant near the toilet.
The incident led to protest at the college premises with students demanding appropriate punishment for him.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed against Kushal on the basis of a complaint from the college management. His mobile phone has also been seized.
An investigation into the matter is underway. More details are awaited.
