Cabinet approves six-lane bridge across Ganga in Bihar for improved North-South connectivity

The bridge which is being made at the cost of Rs 3,064,45 crore is expected to produce direct employment for skilled and unskilled workers.

On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the building of a new, 4.56-kilometer, six-lane bridge across the Ganga that will connect Digha and Sonepur in Bihar.

The bridge will facilitate faster commute and better connectivity between North and South parts of the Bihar. It will boost socio-economic growth of the entire region. 

The bridge which is being made at the cost of Rs 3,064,45 crore is expected to produce direct employment for skilled and unskilled workers. 

The work is targeted to be completed in 42 months from the appointed date  

Large ships will be able to pass below the bridge, supporting inland water transport in the country.

In a major decision taken today by the #Cabinet, under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, the proposal to improve and widen the 135 km stretch of the Khowai-Harina road in Tripura has been approved.

The total cost of the approved project is Rs 3,064.45 crore and is expected to be completed in 42 months, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters.

Today, the Union Cabinet also approved the improvement and widening of 135-kilometer stretch of Khowai-Harina road in Tripura.

The widening of this crucial road will reduce travel time and logistics cost between Tripura and Assam. (With inputs from ANI)
