Chennai to Nagercoil in Just 9 Hours: Check Fare and Route Details of New Vande Bharat Train
The launch of Chennai-Nagercoil is aimed at enhancing travel experience of people in southern India.
Chennai: In a significant boost to travel infrastructure, Tamil Nadu got two New Vande Bharat trains on Saturday. The trains were flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing. The launch of Chennai-Nagercoil and Madurai-Bengaluru trains is aimed at enhancing travel experience of people in southern India. Apart from these two, Meerut-Lucknow Vande train was also flagged off. With the launch of these new trains, the fleet of the newly inducted train sets will reach 54.
The Chennai-Nagercoil will offer connectivity to temple town Madurai. The intrastate Vande Bharat for Tamil Nadu is the first for the Chennai Egmore–Nagercoil route.
Train to cover 724 km in just 9 hours
The Vande Bharat will connect the capital city with the scenic town of Nagercoil, situated just 20 km from Kanyakumari.
Given its high sped, this rain will cover a distance of 724 kilometres in just nine hours.
According to Railway Ministry, “This train will cover 726 km in the state of Tamil Nadu and will provide modern and faster train travel experience to the people of 12 districts of Tamil Nadu — Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu and Chennai. This Vande Bharat train service will facilitate pilgrims travelling to the divine Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai & Kumari Amman Temple, Kanniyakumari,” it said.
Train timings:
The Vande Bharat train will depart from Chennai at 5am and reach Nagercoil at 1.50pm whereas the return journey from Nagercoil will start at 2.20pm and arrive in Chennai at 11pm.
Stoppages:
After beginning the journey from Chennai Egmore, the train will have various stoppages that include Tambaram,Villupuram, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Kovilpatti, and Tirunelveli.
Ticket Prices:
The fare for a chair car class ticket for travelling on Chennai-Nagercoil Vande train is expected to be between Rs 1,650 and Rs 1,700, offering a quick and comfortable travel option for passengers.
