Cricketer held in Delhi for conning luxury hotel
The accused has been identified as Mrinank Singh, who claims to have represented Mumbai Indians in IPL.

The Delhi police have arrested a conman cricketer, who claimed to have represented Mumbai Indians in IPL, for duping a five-star luxury hotel in the national capital. He allegedly conned several other hotels and resorts by impersonating himself as an IPS officer and a IPL cricketer. The accused also purpotedly cheated a famous Indian cricketer as well.
The accused has been identified as Mrinank Singh, who hails from Haryana. It is being said that the accused cricketer has played for Haryana U-19 cricket team and also claims to have represented Mumbai Indians in IPL.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), Ravikant Kumar has said that the police team of Chanakyapuri Police Station, New Delhi district has arrested the conman, who allegedly duped Taj Palace Hotel to the tune of Rs 5,53,000 in July 2022.
Accused said to have duped a famous Indian cricketer, says police
During further investigation, it also surfaced that accused Mrinank Singh duped multiple luxury hotels owners across India by impersonating as a senior IPS Officer.

The DCP said, “On August 22, a complaint from the director of security of the hotel was received at Chanakyapuri police station, alleging that one Mrinank Singh presented himself as a cricketer and stayed in the hotel from July 22 to July 29, but left the hotel without settling bills of Rs 5,53,362. When he was asked for payment, he said that his company (A famous shoe brand) would be making the payment. Accordingly, hotel bank details were shared with him.”
“Later, the accused shared details of an online transaction of Rs 2 lakh, which was found to be dubious. Thereafter, Mrinank Singh and his manager namely Gagan Singh were contacted on their mobile for payment. But, even after repeated calls the outstanding payments were not cleared,” said Additional DCP Kumar.

A case on the complaint was registered against the accused and an inquiry was initiated. During the investigation, a notice was sent to the address of accused Mrinank Singh but he was not found present. Efforts were made by the dedicated police team to trace the accused. His mobile phone remained switched off and most of his communications were found to be on social media platforms.
Police sources said that his acquaintances were made to believe that he is not in India and has now been settled in Dubai. Subsequently, a non-bailable warrant against him was issued from the court and a look out circular was also issued in order to arrest him.
Meanwhile, on December 25, he was arrested at Delhi’s IGI Airport, while he was to take flight to Hong Kong. As per sources, during his detention at the airport, conman Mrinank Singh made another attempt to influence investigating officials by posing himself as a senior IPS officer.
However, during further interrogation he revealed that he duped multiple luxury resorts and hotels by impersonating himself as an IPL cricketer of Mumbai Indian team. Further analysis of his mobile phone revealed that there are multiple victims of his fraud and impersonation. Using his stardom by posing as an IPL player, he allegedly has duped several females as well.
He was produced in the court by the police, from where he has been sent to two days of police custody. Further investigation of the case is underway.
