Forest officials arrest six for hunting spotted deer in Telangana

A case of hunting a spotted deer has surfaced in Mulugu district of Telangana, wherein a wire was used as a trap. Following the incident, the forest department officials came to action and arrested six persons allegedly involved in hunting the deer.

According to the forest department officials, the incident came to notice in Tadvai division of Mulugu district on December 24. The forest officials immediately went for a spot investigation, where they recovered a part of the skin of the spotted deer along with the wire used as a snare.

Forest officials are taking all preventive measures to ensure safety of animals

Considering the seriousness of the matter, an investigation was initiated and six persons involved in the offence were arrested the other day. The forest department personnel have also recovered deer meat from the house of one of the accused, which was found to be kept for drying. 

A statement was released by the forest department related to the incident. As per the statement, the forest officials have launched a state-wide drive named as ‘Catch The Trap’, wherein all kinds of devices like traps and various nets are being seized. This is being done as a preventive measure to stop the killing of wild animals, says a forest official.

Additionally, the forest officials have been instructed to take all kinds of preventive measures to ensure safety of wild animals.

Notably, a person had reportedly died in Karepally village of Khammam, after getting electrocuted by a similar trap, which was connected with electric current from outside forest area, in order to trap animals.
