An Indian Army personnel in Kerala's Kollam district was attacked by unidentified men, who painted 'PFI' (Popular Front of India) on his back. A police complaint has been registered in the matter.

In the complaint filed, the army jawan alleged that he was attacked by a group of six men in a rubber forest next to his house on Sunday night. Describing the incident, he informed that the miscreants tied up his hands with tape, and wrote PFI on his back with green paint.

A case in the matter has been registered under sections 143,147, 323, 341 and 153 of the Indian Penal Code.

It is important to note that the incident occurred on the day when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at multiple locations in Kerala in connection with the probe into the now-banned PFI under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

PFI banned in 2022

Notably, the Islamist outfit PFI, known as Popular Front of India, was banned by the central government in September last year after it came under the scanner of the National Investigation Agency and the Enforcement Directorate. The organisation was banned for a period of five years for its alleged links with global terror groups and terror funding.

In the notification, the Centre said the PFI is involved in several criminal and terror cases and shows sheer disrespect towards the constitutional authority of the country with funds and ideological support from outside, it has become a major threat to the internal security of the country.
